What is a Doula
Why use a Doula?
Studies have shown that mothers using a birth Doula benefit by having:
25% shorter labor
Reduced risk of cesarean birth by 50%
Reduced pitocin use by 40%
Reduced help from epidural anesthesia
Reduced chances of an episiotomy
Reduced risk of instrument delievery by 40%
Using a Postpartum Doula is linked to:
Increased rates of breastfeeding
Decreased rates of postpartum depression
lower chance of maternal re-hospitalization
stronger bond between mom and baby
greater confidence in their parenting abilities
better understanding of newborn.
Birth Doula services include:
*FREE initial interview
*2 prenatal visits ( more if warranted), including
drafting a birth plan to fit your needs.
*on call for two weeks prior to due date and until birth.
*continuous support throughout labor and birth
*immediate postpartum care (including initiating preferred feeding method)
*2 postpartum visits ( more if warranted )
*guaranteed back up thru Sage Birth co-op
cost : $625
Postpartum Doula services:
( help where help is needed)
* light house keeping
* baby's laundry
*help with breastfeeding
* assist with infant care
*assist with emotional needs
* cooking
* older sibling care
* organization
$15 per hour
Birth and postpartum package
have both services available to you during your time of transition.
This package includes Birth and 18 hours of postpartum Doula services for
$800
savings of $100
A small portion of Om Bellies practice is reserved for sliding scale pricing/ and or barter arrangements. If you feel your family situation fits this criteria please contact me for more information.
